Future Watch: Ian Happ Rookie Baseball Cards, Cubs – Ian Happ was selected with the 9th overall pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA the 22-year old didn’t spend long in the low minors either. He made two big jumps playing for two teams each season. Then played in the Arizona Fall League in 2016 and started the season playing for the AAA, Iowa Cubs.

In 104 AAA at-bats he has nine home runs, 25 RBI hitting a solid .298. His 21 runs and six doubles help add to a profile that shows him having pretty good power. At 6′-0″, 205 pounds he has the measurables. The bigger question is where will he play at the major-league level?

So far, he’s been playing at second base since being called up in May. In his first 21 games, he has four homers and nine RBI. His big game was a few days ago when he knocked two out of the ballpark in a win over the St. Louis Cardinals. He’s only hitting .235 but he has managed to get four doubles, one triple and 11 runs scored. If he stays productive the thoughts of Ryne Sandberg may dance in Cubbies fans’ heads.

Here’s the scouting report on Ian Happ according to MLB Prospect Pipeline:

Happ demonstrates balance and bat speed from both sides, though he has been more productive as a left-handed hitter in pro ball. With his deceptive strength, solid speed and baserunning instincts, he has 20-20 upside. He has good plate discipline as well, though he’ll have to tighten his strike zone after expanding it once he got to Double-A.

As a top prospect for the defending World Series Champions, Ian Happ already has several autographed cards in the market. One of his first primary cards was his 2015 Bowman Draft Chrome Prospect Autograph. He was recently named as the Lucky Redemption Rookie Autograph for 2017 Bowman Baseball. He also has an autographed card in the just released 2017 Topps Pro Debut Baseball and a great Autographed Jersey Card in 2017 Donruss Baseball as well. In addition, Happ has cards in several other product from 2015 and 2016 baseball products from Leaf,  Panini and Topps.
