Future Watch: Isaiah White Rookie Baseball Cards, RedsFuture Watch: Isaiah “Zeek” White Rookie Baseball Cards, Reds – Isaiah White was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the third round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. He played high school ball at the Greenfield School in Wilson, South Carolina. Andrew McCutchen was the first player from that school to be selected in the MLB draft.
Zeek White

In January of 2017, White was traded to the Cincinnati Reds. His nickname is “Zeek” and he played for four different teams when his 2017 season closed out. Up to that point, it wasn’t going well. In 2017, on two teams, he hit just .196 with two home runs and 11 RBI.

In 2018, he had a fresh start with the Billings Mustangs in rookie ball. He hit three home runs and had 17 RBI with a .250 average. He added 10 doubles, three triples, and nine steals. He was promptly promoted to the Greenville Reds in the Appalachian League. In his first nine games, he was hitting .438. He had two homers, five RBI, and three steals. That was the kind of start he was hoping for on a new team with a new franchise.

In a July game, he hit a home run that easily cleared the fence. What a difference a year makes. He’s only 21, so he still has a very bright future.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

“Though extremely raw at the moment, White does have the chance to be a premium defender who impacts the game on both sides with his speed. Developing plate discipline and learning to recognize secondary pitches could take some time, however, after he faced little semblance of pro competition as an amateur.”

Here’s a look at White’s current power stroke:

He has a 2017 Bowman Baseball Chrome Prospects Autographs card and that’s a good way to get him into your collection.

White seems like the classic late bloomer. In a few years, he could be a sleeper.
