Future Watch: Ivan Provorov Rookie Hockey Cards, FlyersFuture Watch: Ivan Provorov Rookie Hockey Cards, Flyers – Ivan Provorov is an emerging star defenseman who patrols the blue line for the Philadelphia Flyers. After being selected 7th overall in 2015, Flyers fans hoped he’d be a top pairing guy sooner rather than later and that happened this past season.

Now 20, some were worried about the young Russian playing top minutes against the biggest stars in the league. He not only did that playing in all 82 games but he managed to put up 30 points of offense as well.

He’s a very fast, fluid skater with good size at 6′-1″, and a very sturdy over 200-pound frame. He can play just physical enough to keep scorers at arm’s length but he also has a very high hockey I.Q. and he rarely is out of position and for a defenseman that’s very important.

In 2013-14, I saw Provorov play during his one season in the USHL for the Cedar Rapid Roughriders. He was a player who showed a different skill level than players on his team and that stood out to me and probably a few others as well.

Both of his seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL were stellar. He didn’t walk away with a Memorial Cup championship but he did win CHL Defenseman of the Year honors in 2015-16 as well as a silver medal for Team Russia in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 World Junior Championships. That, coupled with a near perfect training camp got him the full-time job in Philadelphia.

Ivan Provorov has several rookie cards from Upper Deck in 2016-17 products. A couple of key ones to look for are his Future Watch autograph card from 2016-17 SP Authentic as well as well as his Young Guns rookie from Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey.

In his first year, he averaged 21:59 of ice time. This year you can expect that to increase slightly and so will his points as he continues to trend upward towards being an All-Star player in the NHL.
