Future Watch: Jalen Hurts Football Cards, Philadelphia Eagles – The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts with the 53rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Considering the Eagles have a number one quarterback in Carson Wentz, who is only 27, this pick ruffled some feathers of the fan base, and media had a lot to talk about.

Hurts attended Channelview High School, in Channelview, Texas. He was named a four-star recruit and a real dual threat to beat you with his arm or his legs.

He attended the University of Alabama. As a freshman in 2016, he held a 62.8 completion percentage and a quarterback rating of 139.12. He was voted the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, First-Team All-SEC, and captured the SEC championship. What a start.

Things changed for Hurts when Tua Tagovailoa brought the Crimson Tide back in a second-half victory in the 2018 College Football National Championship game with a 26-23 overtime win over Georgia. Hurts was taken out because he was ineffective, and lost his starting job for the 2018 season. His final numbers with Alabama were 5,626 yards passing, a 62.9 completion percentage with 48 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, and 23 rushing touchdowns.

In January 2019, Hurts announced he was transferring to the University of Oklahoma. As a graduate transfer, he was eligible to play for the 2019 season. He was fantastic, throwing for 3,851 yards, a 69.7 completion percentage with 32 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and 20 rushing touchdowns.

At the NFL Combine, Hurts ran a 4.59 in the 40-yard dash cementing that he would be picked in the first two rounds of the draft.

Hurts is poised to be the Eagles number quarterback and should see some packages where he can run in his rookie season. If there’s an injury to Wentz, this guy could be a seamless transition. He is a must collect.
