Future Watch: Jared McCann Hockey Rookie Cards, Vancouver Canucks – Heading into the 2014 NHL Draft, Jared McCann was a shoe-in to be a first round selection. He was averaging almost a point-per-game with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League and he played for Canada in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial. He came away with a gold medal.

Then he started to slip in the draft. It was inexplicable considering the year he had, his position of center and his good size at 6′, 185 pounds. The team watching this happen was the Vancouver Canucks who just happened to have two first round picks and with their second of those picks he was selected 24th overall.

Consistency is the key with this 19-year-old. Consistent scoring is hard to do in the NHL but he has 8 points in his first 20 games. The other things he does is getting to scoring areas consistently, he can put a fast hard shot on net and the opposition has to pay attention to him when he’s on the ice creating opportunities for his linemates.

In an already star studded, jammed packed 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 hockey checklist, McCann is in the mix and he could end up being one of the players that collectors initially sleep on a bit. If you miss out on his Young Guns rookie card, he does have a Parkhurst insert in the product as well.

Here’s a compilation of McCann’s 2014-15 goals:

Here’s a look at his first NHL goal:

The kid has already made it. Now we’ll see if he can be an all-star in the coming years. My guess is he will be and someday soon.
