Future Watch: Jarred Kelenic Rookie Baseball Cards, MarinersFuture Watch: Jarred Kelenic Rookie Baseball Cards, MarinersJarred Kelenic was drafted by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, the Mets expected big things from him.

In 2016, he got his name on the radar when he was voted the MVP in the U18 Pan American Games. He took home a gold medal as well.

In 2017, he took part in the high school Home Run Derby in Marlins Park. He later played again for USA Baseball and took home another gold medal.

The Mets took him with the sixth overall pick. That didn’t raise any eyebrows because of his pedigree. After the draft, they assigned him to the Gulf Coast League Mets, and he finished out the year playing for the Kingsport Mets. His combined numbers were good; six homers, 42 RBI, 15 steals and a .286 average.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

“Compared to a more athletic version of Mark Kotsay, Kelenic stands out most for his hitting ability. He has tremendous feel for the barrel and repeatedly demonstrates a professional approach from the left side of the plate. With his solid raw power and speed, he can contribute offensively in a variety of ways. Scouts aren’t sold that Kelenic can stay in center field all the way up to the big leagues, but his quickness and instincts give him a chance. If he has to move to a corner, he has more than enough arm strength to handle right field. His work ethic is as impressive as his physical gifts. ETA – Unknown.”

Collectors can get his 2018 Bowman Draft autographed rookie card.

Over the winter, the 19-year-old was traded to the Seattle Mariners in a blockbuster deal that sent Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz to the Mets.

Here’s what he looks like taking a few rips:

Collectors should get in on him now. The Mariners got a good one here.
