Future Watch: Jeff Okudah Football Cards, Lions – Jeff Okudah was selected by the Detroit Lions with the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He first starred at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas. When his career there was done, he was considered a five-star recruit and that’s when Ohio State University came calling and offered him a full ride.
In his two seasons at Ohio State, the cornerback played in 27 games, had 37 tackles, 14 of them unassisted, and two fumble recoveries. In 2019, he was voted a Unanimous All-American. He was the first corner in the history of the football program to receive that honor. He then decided to enter the NFL Draft.
At the NFL Combine, the 6-1, 205-pound prospect ran an impressive 4.48 in the 40-yard dash, his vertical jump was 41” and he did 11 reps on the weight bench! He dreamed about that day and he nailed it. Now, he did fall and hit his head tracking a ball, but he didn’t suffer any ill effects and scouts loved what they saw.
Collectors can find Jeff Okudah’s pre-draft and rookie cards in 2020 Panini Contenders, Score, Prizm, and Leaf Metal Draftto name a few.
Here’s a look at him shining against Clemson at the Fiesta Bowl:
Some are comparing him to Darrelle Revis. He has an exceptional work ethic and that will endear him to Detroit Lions fans who really appreciate their star players. Being a top corner means you have to shut down some of the best wide receivers in the league or have to make that big tackle because if you don’t, it could mean an open field run for the opponent. Good corners are worth their weight in gold and as far as collecting goes, this player seems like a can’t miss and future All-Pro.
