Future Watch: Jerome Robinson Rookie Basketball Cards, ClippersFuture Watch: Jerome Robinson Rookie Basketball Cards, ClippersJerome Robinson was born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1997. He was recruited out of Needham Broughton High School by Boston College in 2014. In his freshman season with the Eagles, he averaged 11.7 points, four rebounds and three assists over 23 games. As a sophomore, he increased his scoring to 18.7 points per game. His junior season saw him develop into a top NBA draft prospect. Robinson played in 35 games while averaging 36.0 minutes and 20.7 points. His 40.9% shooting rate from behind the arc was a career high. He was named to the All-ACC First Team and received 14 votes for ACC Player of the Year.

At the conclusion of his junior season, Robinson declared for the 2018 NBA draft but did not initially hire an agent. He would eventually sign with CAA sports, ending his college eligibility. Leading up to the draft, scouts saw the 6’5” guard as a player capable of scoring at all three levels in the NBA. At Boston College, he was often a creator on offense with a score first mentality. He can create off the dribble to get shots from any spot on the floor. He shot 40.9% from deep and 83% at the free throw line as a junior. Like most NBA prospects, he’ll have to improve as a defender. On draft night, the Los Angeles Clippers selected Jerome Robinson with the 13th overall pick. He couldn’t have found a better situation in the NBA to build on his talents.

Robinson has seen action in 23 of 59 games for the Clippers so far this season. His playing time at the beginning was sporadic. Starting in January, he’s seen more consistent playing time over his last 15 games. His best game came on January 25th when he played 17 minutes and scored eight points in a 106-101 win in Chicago. The Clippers made some trades at the deadline with their eye on the future which will bode well for Robinson as the season wears down. He’s currently competing for minutes with the recently acquired Landry Shamet.

The Clippers are currently fighting for an eighth playoff seed in the Western Conference. Robinson is more of a developmental player at this point, but he’s still seeing minutes in a playoff race. It helps to have a top coach in Doc Rivers to guide the way for Robinson’s development. Keep an eye on his production down the stretch.
