Future Watch: Jesse Puljujarvi Rookie Hockey Cards, Oilers – Jesse Puljujarvi represents the future of the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have already drafted stars like Connor McDavid (1st overall pick in 2015) and Leon Draisaitl (3rd overall pick in 2014), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (1st overall pick in 2011), Darnell Nurse (7th overall pick in 2013) and now this talented Finn.
Puljujarvi was drafted 4th overall in 2016. He had a strong season overseas in his draft year. It started with Karpat in SM-liiga and then he played in the U20 World Junior Championships, for Finland. He scored 17 points in 7 games and earning best forward award and a gold medal. The year ended with a bronze medal with Karpat, where he had 13 goals in 50 regular season games and a gold medal finish in the World U18’s last April with the Finnish team.
At the tender age of 18, he’s figuring out the NHL. In his first 23 games, he managed 8 points. Those aren’t star-studded numbers just yet but the Oilers are giving him time to figure it all out on and off the ice.
The talented right winger stands 6′-4″, 203 pounds and has been playing regularly, getting some power play time, and at times shows a glimpse of his tremendous skill, great skating and tremendous shot. Even when he’s not scoring he’s contributing in other facets of the game.
Jesse Puljujarvi has an NFL licensed Young Guns rookie card in 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. He has appeared in some other sets as well but not in his Oilers uniform. Collectors can safely anticipate seeing Puljujarv’s in these future 2017-17 hockey releases from Upper Deck as well:

Edmonton is expecting him to be a big part of their future. The team is already better for having him in the lineup. He creates match-up problems and defenseman must track his whereabouts out on the sheet. Puljujarvi has all the tools so there’s little risk in collecting him.
