Future Watch: Jimmy Vesey Rookie Hockey Cards, Rangers –  Originally selected by the Nashville Predators, with the 66th pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, it took awhile for Jimmy Vesey to find an NHL home. While attending Harvard University he got better and better every season. In his final season, there was a lot of debate on whether he’d sign with the Nashville Predators. Then when it was clear he wouldn’t, his rights were traded to the Buffalo Sabres. However, he made it known that he wouldn’t sign with them either, he shocked quite a few pundits by signing with the New York Rangers. It was a perfect match.

The reigning 2016 Hobey Baker Award winner has been a revelation on the the power play and one of the Rangers clutch scorers. Sometimes the fresh legs and youthful exuberance of a prospect can help ignite the play of teammates and he’s seemingly doing that with winger, Rick Nash.

This years’ list of Calder Trophy candidates is simply ridiculous. It’s the deepest in a long time so it would take a lot more for him to get mentioned in that race. The Rangers don’t even necessarily need that. What they needed was another fast player who isn’t afraid to get in the crease and get to work. Vesey is willing to pay the price to win games and so far, that’s helped the Rangers regain their form as one of the best teams in hockey.

Jimmy Vesey has a Young Guns rookie card in 2016-17 Upper Deck Series One Hockey.  He actually has three versions; Base, Canvas and Exclusives. For now, those are his only rookie cards. As a result, the prices on the secondary market are rising as he continues to put up points. Vesey has been declared the Rangers pick for the Rookie Redemption cards from this year’s Artifacts Hockey as well.

However, be sure to look for him in upcoming 2016-17 hockey releases from Upper Deck including:

The Massachusetts native plays a complete 200-foot game. His playing time has remained steady and his impact on the team has been better than expected. He’s had an interesting journey to get to the “Big Apple” and if all goes well he’ll be carving out his legacy this season for a quite a few down the road.
