Future Watch: Joe Burrow Pre-Draft Football Cards, LSU – Joe Burrow played high school football for Athens High School in Plains, Ohio where he threw for over 11,000 yards. He is a second-generation player. His father Jim, played at the University of Nebraska, and in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers, as well as, the CFL. Bloodlines matter, they’re not the end-all, but in this case, it’s just another reason why he could be the top overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
From 2015-17, the talented quarterback didn’t get much playing time for the Buckeyes. In all, he only played in 10 games throwing for 287 yards and two touchdowns. In 2018, he transferred to Louisiana State University. In his three years at Ohio State, he graduated early, got his degree and as such was granted an immediate graduate transfer.
Burrow was the starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers in 2018. He finished the season with 2,894 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He added seven rushing touchdowns.
2019, was his year to shine. In an early game against Georgia Southern, he threw for five touchdowns. He finished the season with 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and just six picks. He rushed for another five touchdowns. He played in the National Championship Game, throwing for 463 yards and scoring six touchdowns. Five through the air. He won the MVP Award for the game, won the championship, the Heisman Trophy, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award among nine additional awards.
At the NFL Combine, there was some controversy about him having “tiny hands” for an NFL quarterback but he laughed it off, as he should. The 6’-3” prospect has a 74” wingspan, which more than makes up for his hand-size.
Here’s a look at his career highlights:
Most are projecting him to be the Cincinnati Bengals next starting quarterback with that first overall selection. We will know better on April 23rd very early on. He’s a no-brainer as far as collecting goes.
