Future Watch: Jordan Groshans Rookie Baseball Cards, Blue Jays – Jordan Groshans was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 12th overall pick in the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. He has a chance to be a terrific shortstop or third baseman but until we know for sure there is a lot of optimism surrounding this player.

His career started at Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Texas. He played in the 2017 Perfect Game Classic where only top young talents get to show off their skills. Scouts liked his 6-3 frame and the fact that he could turn on a 92 MPH fastball and knock it out of the park as outlined in the game recap on www.perfectgame.org.

After that, he went on to play for the Kansas Jayhawks. His NCAA baseball career was solid. In 2018, his sophomore season he hit .313 with 16 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 43 RBI that led the team.

In 2019, he had his first multi-homer game and extended that to three. He had a 5 RBI game and got an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

With his plus bat speed and an explosive but well-balanced right-handed swing, Groshans has no issues with velocity and consistently barrels the ball. His advanced approach fuels his ability to hit to all fields, and he made a lot of hard, line-drive contact from line to line during his pro debut. Those qualities lead scouts to project Groshans as an above-average big-league hitter, and it’s possible that he could also develop plus power as he fills out his 6-foot-3 frame and adds some loft to his swing. An average runner out of the batter’s box and quicker once he gets going, Groshans is athletic for his size but isn’t a lock at shortstop. His strong arm plays well there, though his defensive actions might be best suited for third base long-term. ETA 2022.

Jordan Groshans already has hundreds of baseball cards. As a top draft pick, that isn’t uncommon. His first cards, including autographs, were released in 2017 products from Leaf and Topps. To date, his most popular, and expensive cards are his 2018 Bowman Chrome Draft autographs. In subsequent years, he has had cards in 2019 Topps Heritage Minor League and 2019 Bowman Sterling, to name a few.

Here’s a look at him in action:

Better to get on the Groshans train now before it gains too much momentum.
