Future Watch: Jordan Mailata Rookie Football Cards, EaglesFuture Watch: Jordan Mailata Rookie Football Cards, EaglesJordan Mailata was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 233rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s from Australia (his parents immigrated from Samoa), and played professional rugby, had a heart ailment fixed and had no American or High School football experience. Some thought he was a reach.

One thing the Eagles like is his 6-8, 346-pound athletic frame. He’s an offensive lineman, or at least that’s the hope. They want him to be an offensive tackle and they’re not going to rush him. The team thinks there’s a learning curve here, but they think he’s a potential diamond in the rough.

Soon to be 22, on workout day he ran a 5.12 40-yard dash. His arms were measured at 35.5 inches. In the short shuttle, he ranked in the top 10 at the position for draft-eligible players. He showed great strength moving the bench press bar 22 times.

He learned about the tackle position by watching the movie “The Blind Side”. He’s literally learning about the game as he practices and plays it. He made enough progress this season to dress for three games and he sat and was eventually put on IR in December after that.

Collectors can get rookie cards of him in 2018 Panini Contenders and that’s it. That’s his only card for the 2018 season which makes it highly collectible, especially if he eventually becomes a good player.

This video exhibits all of his various skills that can be attributed to the gridiron:

He’s a guy with a boundless amount of energy and a can-do attitude. He has a lot of personality and Eagles fans are already rooting for this guy to succeed. I believe collectors will rally around him as well once they know a bit more about him.
