Future Watch: Josh Jung Rookie Baseball Cards, Rangers – Josh Jung was drafted by the Texas Rangers with the eighth overall pick in the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft. The 6-2, 215-pound third baseman hails from San Antonio, Texas.

After starring at Texas Tech, where the third baseman had 260-career hits (ranks 4th all-time), his 56 doubles (6th all-time) and 33 homers (10th all-time) all got scouts to notice him.

He played in Rookie Ball after the draft. In 17 at-bats he had ten hits, a double, triple, and home run with five RBI and a .588 batting average. That got him promoted.

He finished out 2019, playing for the Hickory Crawdads in A-ball. In 137 at-bats he smacked 13 doubles and drove in 23 runs. He added four steals and hit .287. He had a solid first season.

Collectors can find some of Jung’s most popular cards in 2019 Bowman Draft, 2019 Bowman’s Best and many more; including sets from Panini America and Leaf Trading Cards.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

One of the best all-around hitters in the 2019 Draft, Jung has a controlled approach and a sound right-handed stroke. He routinely barrels balls to all fields, doesn’t sell out for power and has the bat speed and strength to produce 25 or more homers per season. He controls the strike zone and has no holes in his offensive game.

Though Jung is a below-average runner, he has enough athleticism and instincts to make plays at third base. He won’t play shortstop in pro ball but upgraded the Red Raiders defensively when he moved there. He has reliable hands and more than enough arm strength for the hot corner. ETA 2021

Here’s a look at his powerful swing:

Many have Jung listed in the Top 100 prospects in the game of baseball. He will start 2020 in the minors. It’s unlikely that Texas Ranger fans will see him this September, but the race is on between Jung and a few others in the Rangers system to get that magic call up. Bet on Jung. Collect Jung.
