Future Watch: Josh Norris Hockey Cards, Ottawa Senators – Josh Norris was drafted by the San Jose Sharks with the 19th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. This talented center has been climbing the ladder slowly since he was drafted.
After a few years with the U.S. National Team Development Program, playing with guys like Brady Tkachuk (Ottawa Senators) and Quinn Hughes (Vancouver Canucks), he moved on to the University of Michigan. In 2017-18, his freshman season, the pivot scored eight goals and had 15 assists in 37 games.
On September 13th, 2018, Norris was a part of a big trade that sent star defenseman Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators to the Sharks. Still in Michigan, Norris had 10 goals and 19 points in 17 games before his season ended with an undisclosed injury that he sustained in the 2019 World Junior Championship. He had six points in seven games in his second appearance in the tournament and took home a silver medal to go along with the bronze he won the year before.
2019-20 was a massive season for Norris. He was one of the best players in the AHL with the Belleville Senators, in his professional rookie season. After his 51st game, he was elevated to the Ottawa Senators for a three-game stint but was ultimately sent back down to the A and finished out the shortened year with 31 goals and 30 assists in 56 games. Norris was Belleville’s top scorer and topped rookie scoring and points league wide. He was also voted to the AHL’ All-Rookie Team, and First All-Star Team.

Norris is expected to crack the NHL lineup for Ottawa in the upcoming 2020-21 season. At 21, the best is yet to come. Collect him at all costs, he’s a potential all-star.
