Future Watch: Josh Sborz Rookie Baseball Cards, DodgersFuture Watch: Josh Sborz Rookie Baseball Cards, DodgersJosh Sborz was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers 74th overall in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. The star collegiate pitcher made a name for himself at the University of Virginia.

In 2013, while pitching for the Cavaliers, the 6-3 pitcher appeared in 30 games; 10th most in school history. The next season he started 13 games and he was ranked 7th in the ACC with batting average against, opponent hit just .210. He pitched twice in the College World Series.

In 2015, he didn’t let up an earned run in his final 27 innings pitching for the University. He was the Most Outstanding Player Award winner at the College World Series. His team won it all and he was ready for his next step.

From 2015-17 he was got as high as Double-A. In Double-A, he pitched for the Tulsa Drillers going 8-8 with 81 strikeouts and a 3.86 ERA.

In 2018, he started the year in Tulsa again going 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA. He was quickly promoted to the Oklahoma City Dodgers. He was striking out more than a batter per inning in the early part of the season.

He has a 2017 Bowman Baseball Chrome Prospects Autographs card and that’s a good way to get him into your collection.

Sborz has a brother, Jay, who pitched in the Tigers organization for eight seasons. Josh has a long windup and he can really throw hard. He can throw in the mid-90’s because he rears back in the windup. His three-quarter arm motion is something that you don’t see a lot anymore.

He has a bright future ahead of him. Now 24, he will get his chance to play in the big leagues in the next season or two. Collectors should start collecting him now.
