Future Watch: Juan Thornhill Rookie Football Cards, Chiefs – Juan Thornhill was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 63rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He first starred at Altavista High School in the Commonwealth of Virginia. There he played safety and quarterback and played some basketball as well. He then committed to the University of Virginia.
In 2015, he wasn’t redshirted, and he participated in nine games.
In 2016, he played in 12 games. He had 29 solo tackles and 45 in total. Additionally, there were 10 passes defended, three interceptions, a sack, and a forced fumble.
In 2017, the talented junior played in 12 games adding 47 solo tackles, and 63 in total plus four interceptions and 16 passes defended.
In his final season at Virginia, he had career highs in tackles (98), interceptions (6), and 13 passes defended. He was ready to enter the NFL Draft. He was third in the nation and the ACC in interceptions and he was voted All-ACC for the second year running.
At the combine, he ran a 4.42, 40-yard dash and he showed off a 44.0-inch vertical jump!
In Week 6, he got his first interception against the Houston Texans. In Week 13 against the Raiders, he had a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown. During Week 17, he tore his ACL and he is out for the season and he’s been missing a great playoff run and Super Bowl appearance.

As a rookie, he started in every game. He just didn’t finish them all. It was a bit of hard luck in a season, but next season should be a big one. He may still get a ring, we shall see.
