Future Watch: Justin Maese Rookie Baseball Cards, Blue Jays – Justin Maese was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. So far at the age of 20, this pitcher is in the midst of a fine season for the Lansing Lugnuts in A-ball. In his first 10 games, he recorded a mark of 5-2 with 54 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings. With three complete games to his name he’s probably getting ready for a promotion.

As a junior in high school, Maese was striking out a lot of hitters and throwing touchdowns as the Ysleta High School starting quarterback. His baseball and football jerseys have been retired. So, he’s got the being a terrific athlete part down.

Here’s the scouting report on Justin Maese according to MLB Prospect Pipeline:

Though he’ll reach the mid-90s with his fastball, Maese tends to work more in the 90-94 mph range, displaying feel for pitching to both sides of the plate. Yet, it’s the pitch’s movement that makes it so dynamic, as Maese’s fast arm and low three-quarters slot imparts excellent sinking action that has helped him generate more than twice as many ground-ball outs as air outs in his career. His slider is relatively new to his arsenal but shows the makings of a second plus pitch, thrown with power in the upper-80s, and he’s also made strides in developing his changeup since signing. ETA 2019.

Justin Maese has a Chrome Prospects Autographed card in 2017 Bowman Baseball. His first autographed card however, appeared in 2015 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball. He also has a base card in 2017 Topps Pro Debut as well.

Here’s a look at Maese dealing in a scouting video:

At 6′-3″, 190 pounds he has the physical gifts and he should get stronger over time. He’s already a leader for Lansing and that bodes well when he eventually gets the call to play in Toronto, Canada in front a big crowd of passionate baseball fans.
