Future Watch: Juuse Saros Hockey Rookie Cards, Predators – Juuse Saros is a talented Finnish goalie who plays in the Nashville Predators system. At 20, he’s trying to follow in the footsteps of current Nashville netminder and fellow countryman, Pekka Rinne.

At just 5′-10″, 179 lbs he doesn’t fit the mold of today’s NHL goalies. Most are around 6′-1″ or taller so they can cover more net. When you’re not blessed with size you have to play bigger and Saros does just that.

Drafted 99th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft, Nashville did their homework. Saros showed his stuff to the world in the 2013-14 World Junior Championships. His team struck gold that year and he was a big reason why with a 1.57 GAA and a stunning .943 save percentage.

He currently plays for the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL. He was just voted to the All Rookie Team which is a nice honor. His 2.17 GAA and .922 save percentage shows he’s rising to the occasion. He did get in one game in Nashville this season.

Next year he’s expected to be the guy in the AHL once again and then after that Nashville will have a good problem on their hands. He could be the backup at that point and learn from Rinne.

Goalies take time to mature and most don’t get a starting NHL job until they are around 22 years of age. Saros has a base rookie card in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. You can also find his rookie cards in other current year Upper Deck products including Artifacts, and Fleer Showcase to name a few.

The Admirals are poised to make a run at the Calder Cup. Saros may be the reason if they get there. He does share time between the pipes but he won goalie of the month in April. Either way his future is very bright.
