Future Watch: Juuso Valimaki Rookie Hockey Cards, FlamesFuture Watch: Juuso Valimaki Rookie Hockey Cards, FlamesJuuso Valimaki was drafted by the Calgary Flames with the 16th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. At 6-2, 187, many believed he would get to the NHL, and that happened sooner than expected.

The talented Finn played three seasons for the Tri-City Americans. In 2015-16 he got 32 points in 56 games. Not bad. That season he won a gold medal in the U18s. It was something to build on.

The next season he excelled with 19 goals and 61 points in 60 games. Exceptional for a defenseman. He got a taste of postseason play that year.

In 2016-17 he had two points in six games in the 2017 World Junior Championship.

2017-18 was a big year for this prospect. He had 45 points in 43 regular season games. 14 of them were goals. He had four points in five games in the 2018 World Junior Championship. His team. Went on a mini playoff run and he had 17 points in 12 playoff games.

Here’s a look at him:

2018-19 has been a great year for Valimaki. He had 22 NHL games in early on as compared to two in the AHL. At the age of 20 he’s ahead of schedule for a rearguard.

Freshly released 2018-19 Upper Deck Trilogy hockey is the only current set that has a rookie card of this future star. In this era, it’s a rarity and a collectors’ dream if he hits big. He will be added to future sets for sure.

Valimaki had two points in the NHL and he’ll add a lot more in the AHL. He got a taste of the NHL and that will fuel the rest of his season for sure. Next year he will get a shot to make the team and that’s exciting for the player and fans of the Flames.
