Future Watch: Ke’Bryan Hayes Rookie Baseball Cards, PiratesKe’Bryan Hayes was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. He’s a second-generation talent, his dad, Charlie, had a long career in major league baseball as a third baseman and his son is set to follow in his footsteps.

In 2015, as a senior at the University of Tennessee, he batted .436 with three homers and 27 RBI with 12 steals.

In 2015, he started in rookie ball. After hitting .333 he was promoted to Short-A. While playing for the West Virginia Black Bears. In 41 games he had eight runs and seven RBI.

The 2016 season saw him spending most of the year with the West Virginia Power in Full-A. In 247 at-bats he had 12 doubles, one triple, six homers and 37 RBI with a .266 batting average.

In 2017, still in A-Ball, he hit 16 doubles, seven triples, 43 RBI with a .278 batting average.

He was in Double-A in 2018 with the Altoona Curve and he hit 31 doubles, seven triples, seven homers, 47 RBI while hitting .293.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

Hayes continues to improve as a hitter. He’s always had a solid approach at the plate, but it’s become even more refined, with a walk rate that went up for a third straight season in 2018. So did his ability to drive the ball. While he still largely uses a contact-first approach, Hayes set career highs in extra-base hits and slugging percentage, and there’s more over-the-fence power to come as he matures and continues to add strength. That might slow him down a touch, but he’s still smart enough on the base paths to steal bases. There might not be a better defensive third baseman in the Minors, with his agility, hands, arm and instincts all pointing to future Gold Glove awards.

Collectors can find his “rookie card” in 2019 Bowman Chrome.

Here’s a look at his swing:

In 2019, he landed in Triple-A and hit 31 doubles, 10 home runs, drove in 55, scored 65 and stole 13 bases. He may be ready for the show next year.
