In 2014, he was the back up as a true freshman at Texas A&M. In his first appearance, he was 12-16 for 122 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He finished the season with 1,322 yards, 16 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

In 2015, he was named the starter. He was having a great season until a sprained shoulder derailed him and he lost his job to Kyler Murray. His season was very good with 283 attempts for 2,210 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions with two rushing touchdowns. Then he announced he was transferring.

In 2016, he transferred to rival University of Houston but had to redshirt the first season because he wasn’t able to play because of NCAA transfer guidelines.

In 2017, he was installed as the starting quarterback. He had a rocky season and was benched in the third game of the season after throwing four interceptions. He still had a 76.2 pass completion percentage and four touchdowns and the four picks, he decided to make himself available for the NFL Draft.

In 2018, he wasn’t drafted and then signed with the Panthers. They eventually signed him to the practice squad waiting for his chance. He was activated in December after Cam Newton was out for the season. That year he finished with a 64.5 pass completion percentage with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was 20-31 for 255 yards. He added five rushes for 19 yards and another touchdown.

Here’s a look at his game vs. Arizona:
