Future Watch: Kyle Capobianco Rookie Hockey Cards, Coyotes – Kyle Capobianco was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the third round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The Canadian defenseman is only 21 so he’s still got a lot of time to make his mark.
While playing for the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL, he had 10 goals and 40 points in 2015. The next season he had seven goals and 43 points. That year he was a -43, but that was more of a reflection of the team. He did get a reward by playing four games with the Tucson Roadrunners the teams’ AHL affiliate. He didn’t get any points, but he got experience.
In 2016-17, he had 10 goals and 45 points. His team did make the playoffs and he had three points in six games. Again, he managed to get in four games with the Roadrunners. No points but he was a +1.
In 2017-18 he started the season in the AHL. In 49 games he had 30 points. As a rookie in a tough league, those were solid offensive numbers. Tucson made the playoffs and he played in nine games. He didn’t get any points but that was still a good season for this prospect.
In December that season, he got called up to play his first NHL game with the team on the road in Boston. Arizona lost 6-1 but he had three hits and one block in over 13 minutes of ice time. That lit the fuse for this upcoming season.
Here’s a look at the morning before his first NHL game:
This prospect can move the puck up the ice and get in on scoring chances. He’s good on the power play and at 6-1 he has some size. His opportunity will come very soon.
