Future Watch: Lance McCullers Baseball Rookie Cards, Houston Astros – The Houston Astros have had a rocky history. They’ve never won a World Series. The long standing National League team was realigned to the American League three years ago and now they are a power house. In mid-May, pitcher Lance McCullers was promoted and since then he’s been a big part of a very memorable season in Houston.

Then after his 14th start, a career high, he was sent down to AA for some rest but he could be back up shortly. So far this season, McCullers has had more good starts than bad sporting a 3.17 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. He is 5-4 and may have hit the proverbial wall. So a bit of rest may be just what the rookie needs.

With a fastball in the mid 90’s he has 79 strikeouts in 76 innings. An exceptional curveball helps him get batters out. Going into last season the Tampa, Florida native was the 77th ranked prospect according to Baseball America. So far this season he has five of the Astros over 60+ wins helping to keep them right at the top of the AL West.

McCullers has quite a few cards out there. As a member of Team USA, some of his earliest cards can be found in 2010 Bowman Chrome. Interesting to note is that Lance McCullers does not, as of yet, have any baseball cards with the official rookie card logo and designation. That may change with the release of 2015 Topps Update Series.

More recent cards of McCullers can be found in the following products (to name a few):

  1. 2015 Topps Pro Debut
  2. 2015 Panini Stars & Stripes
  3. 2014 Bowman Chrome

Now check out his his 11 strikeout performance:

There’s no doubt he has ace stuff and that he’ll be a part of the Houston Astros for years to come. The big question is will he get a chance to be a part of a postseason run. Only time will tell.
