Future Watch: Martin Necas Rookie Hockey Cards, Hurricanes – It’s rare that I can write about a prospect who’s not in the NHL full-time but he has a rookie card and he’s a potential star in the league. Martin Necas is that guy, he was drafted 12th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

This Czech stud burst on the scene in last year’s U20 World Junior Championship. He was exciting to watch, he had speed and skill and an amazing one-timer. He had three points in five games as a younger player. As a reward he got in a game for the Carolina Hurricanes.

He’s been playing in the Czech Elite League for the past few seasons against men. This year he has 14 points in his first 21 games. In-between that he had another appearance at the U20 World Junior Championship and he was one of the best players in the tournament. He had 11 points, in seven games. Three goals and eight helpers. He finished the tournament with most points, most assists, and he was voted one of the top three players on his team.

Collectors can get his Young Guns rookie card in the 2017-18 Series 2 Hockey. He has rookies in SP Game-Used and 17-18 Overtime hockey. Fans shouldn’t walk to their hobby shop to get his rookies they should run there.

Here’s a look at what he can do on the ice:

Necas could play in the NHL next season at the age of 19. If he does he will instantly become one of the preseason favorites to win the Calder. Hurricanes fans are chomping at the bit to see him and a lot of opposing teams will have to figure out how to cover him. He will create excitement on the ice and in the hobby.
