Future Watch: Mattias Janmark Hockey Rookie Cards, Stars – Sometimes rookies can go unnoticed. This can be especially true when the team is stacked with superstars. Such is the case of the Dallas Stars who have Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. These two stars have definitely cast a shadow on Mattias Janmark and his play this season.

Janmark is 23 years old and was the 79th overall selection by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, their best talent scout was Jim Nill, who was the assistant general manager and he’s been the Dallas Stars GM for almost three seasons now. Last March, he re-acquired Janmark in the Erik Cole deal. This season,  Nill and the Stars reaping the benefits.

In his first 58 games in the National Hockey League the 6′-1″, Swede has 13 goals and 11 assists. That’s pretty good considering his opportunities aren’t as great as some of the top players on the team. So far he’s making the most of his opportunity.

Here’s a look at the rookie showing off his speed and strength scoring his first NHL goal with a defender right on him:

Three current hockey card sets that can give you a shot at a Janmark rookie card are Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey, Artifacts (rookie redemption), NHL Star Rookies and SP Game-Used.

Janmark has strung together multiple goal games. He’s scored game-winners. He is getting better and better as the season goes on and he becomes more experienced playing on a smaller ice surface. He got one game last year in the AHL but it sometimes takes more than half a season for a player to adjust.

Don’t miss out on this prospect. He won’t be flying under the radar for much longer. He won’t be able to put up Calder numbers this year but next year he could be an all-star caliber player.
