Future Watch: Maycee Barber UFC Trading Cards: When you’ve been given the nickname “The Future“, you have a heap of pressure put on your shoulders; fortunately, Maycee Barber is looking like she will be able to carry that weight with ease.

Born in Greeley, CO, Barber started to pursue MMA at an early age. Her parents, Bucky and Maryanne, enrolled Maycee in her first karate classes at the (very) tender age of three. As she was entering her teenage years, Barber was already an instructor herself, teaching adults at the age of 13 from the family’s martial arts academy

Soon after this tutelage started, Barber told her parents that she wanted to one day compete in the UFC. Bucky told Yahoo! Sports that he felt he needed to support his daughter’s path. “Once we got our minds wrapped around the fact that this was what she wanted to do, that she was going to pursue being a fighter regardless of what we thought about it, our entire motivation changed,” he said in an interview with Kevin Iole.

After turning 18, Barber competed once in the amateur ranks and won in a mere 20 seconds. This caught the eye of the Legacy Fighting Alliance, a popular development league for the UFC. She quickly began racking up the wins, going 4-0 before garnering a spot on Dana White‘s Tuesday Night Contender Series in July of 2018. Barber took the win on this night in the third round, garnering a TKO decision over Jamie Colleen

Now 20 years old, Barber has an 8-1 record in MMA overall, with five wins coming by knockout. She ambitions to be the youngest champion in UFC history, though a current injury may sideline that desire.

Barber’s rookie cards can be found in 2019 UFC products and she has been featured in various sets this year, including the 2020 Topps UFC base brand series and 2020 Topps UFC Knockout.
