Future Watch: Melvin Gordon Football Rookie Cards, San Diego Chargers – Beast. Machine. Grinder. These are all words that have been used to describe Melvin Gordon and his smash-mouth running style. Playing for the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin, Gordon was an absolute scoring machine. His presence in the red zone meant opposing defenses had little opportunity of denying him the end zone.

He put up absolutely gaudy numbers in 2014, racking up 29 touchdowns, 2,587 rushing yards and nearly a first down per carry at 7.5 yards. At 6′-1″ and 213lbs, he has a strong center of gravity and powerful legs that makes him a formidable presence to have to tackle. His ability to break single-man tackles contributed significantly to his per-carry rushing average.

The San Diego Chargers ranked 30th in rushing during the 2014 NFL season. As a result it put undue pressure on quarterback Philip Rivers. The team’s offense became predictable without a balanced running attack. That should all change this year with the presence of Gordon in the backfield.

As the 2014 Heisman Trophy runner-up, Gordon was selected with the 15th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. His first round selection immediately put him on the radar of football card collectors around the country who may not have been familiar with his play in the Big-10 Conference.

Melvin Gordon already has several NFL rookie cards with more to come in future releases. He can be found in nearly every 2015 football card product from both Panini and Topps. He also has pre-rookie cards from Leaf and SA-GE.

In addition, his cards in both 2015 Upper Deck Football and 2015 Upper Deck Inscriptions Football have proven to be quite popular with collectors.

The realized prices for his cards on the secondary market are already at “star in the making” status.

Gordon’s conditioning routine and strength training are key to his success as seen in this video clip:
