Future Watch: Mickey Moniak Rookie Baseball Cards, PhilliesFuture Watch: Mickey Moniak Rookie Baseball Cards, Phillies – Mickey Moniak was selected as the first overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. The 6′-2″ California native was signed right out of La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, California. In 1998Pat Burrell was the last Phillies player who was selected first overall. He turned out to be a good player so fans are excited about this prospect.

Last year, Moniak managed to play 46 games in rookie ball and he posted a .284 average with 11 doubles, 4 triples, 28 RBI and 10 steals. It has been reported that he has added 20 pounds of muscle since being drafted to that puts him right around 190 pounds.

In high school the potential star hit .476 with seven homers and 12 triples. Clearly he’s one of those players who can fill the score sheet in a lot of different ways and getting on base is another thing he’s good at.

Mickey Moniak has a Chrome Prospect Autographed Card in 2016 Bowman Draft Baseball. His first cards date back to his time with USA Baseball. He is featured in 2013 and 2015 Panini Elite Extra Edition.

In addition, Moniak also has several autographed cards in various 2015 Leaf Trading Cards baseball products.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

While he saved the Phillies money, he had played himself into a legitimate No. 1-pick kind of player. It’s Moniak’s hit tool and his ability to stay in center field that really stand out. He makes consistent hard contact against good competition. He has a good approach at the plate, spraying line drives to all fields. It’s more doubles power now, but he started to show the ability to drive the ball more this spring and should have more pop as he adds strength to his frame. His above-average speed works on both sides of the ball, and some see a future Gold Glove-caliber center fielder. ETA 2020.

Here’s a look at his sweet stroke:

The Phillies are rebuilding and the City of Brotherly Love is hoping this exciting player will help lead them back to prominence in the future.
