Future Watch: New York Yankees Baseball Cards, trio to collect –The New York Yankees have been good at developing their prospects. Just look in their lineup, and you can see that. The fact that they have been the better team in New York, means their prospects get a fair amount of hype, and in a way, I’m doing that here, but I do think these players will develop as well.

Estevan Florial was signed by the New York Yankees as an international free agent in 2014. By 2016, the hype machine was in full effect, and then trouble hit. From 2017-19, he was befallen by injuries that limited him to just 451 games, and then the pandemic wiped out his season in 2020. Now 23, this centerfielder is still highly regarded. He’s just not the Yankees’ #1 prospect at this time. Florial saw time in the Dominican Winter League this past offseason. He had one home run and five RBI in 18 games while hitting .280 and showing off his great glove and plus arm. Florial has been hitting and flashing the leather on the Yankees taxi squad. If the big league club continues to fall behind in the standings, Florial could be the call-up. Keep an eye on him because he’s only lacking the opportunity to play in the big leagues, nothing else. Jasson Dominguez is the Yankees top prospect. I’ve written about him before, so this is an update. Before the pandemic he was at the Yankees Florida training complex, playing scrimmages, and working out and training. Afterward, he eventually returned to the Dominican Republic to keep on working. Folks are collecting him at a high rate, andhe’s not had an official at-bat in a professional baseball game. That will come next month. He’s 5-10, around 195 pounds, and built like a tank. He’s fast, and Dominquez has terrific bat speed. The Yankees have him penciled in center field. His arm strength would be fine anywhere in the outfield. Collectors have a lot riding on him, and this is where the hype meets the playing field. SHOP JASSON DOMINGUEZ BASEBALL CARDS ON EBAY

Oswald Peraza was signed as an international free agent in 2016. This shortstop is 165 pounds so expect him to get a bit heavier as he matures. Having only played in 155 games in his minor league career, it’s tough that his last season was in 2019 when he played for the Staten Island Yankees. In those 19 games, he hit two home runs with seven RBI and five steals. Peraza played Venezuelan Winter Ball last offseason. He was 4-20, with three runs scored in six games, but at least he played before heading out to Yankees Spring Training after the team added him to the 40-man roster in November. Peraza is a good contact hitter, and his fielding will get him playing time in the Bronx in the next few seasons. For now, don’t miss out on collecting him.
