Future Watch: Nolan Patrick Hockey Rookie Cards – Nolan Patrick has a chance to be the 1st overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Knowing how fluid a ranking like that can be, anything is possible so this isn’t a lock by any stretch of the imagination.

His father, Steve, played for the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers. His uncle, James also played for those two clubs among others. Both were first round picks and now another Patrick is a guaranteed first round pick. That’s a stone cold lock.

Last year, the Winnipeg-born center had 56 points in 55 games. He also netted 15 in the playoffs helping to make the Brandon Wheat Kings, of the WHL an even stronger team. This year he topped that with 102 points in 71 games including  41 regular season goals. His 30 points in 21 playoff games helped propel his team to a nice Memorial Cup run.

Besides being a WHL champion he was the playoff MVP at the tender age of 17. He’s currently 6′-3″, 195 pounds and probably still growing. When his man strength eventually kicks in he’ll be a nightmare for opposing defenseman.

Leaf Trading Cards is the only company currently able to include the young phenom in their products. Collectors can find his autographed cards in 2014-15 Leaf Signature Series Hockey 2015-16 Leaf Metal Hockey and 2015-16 Leaf ITG Heroes & Prospects Hockey.

He’s a smooth skater, with a great worth ethic, solid two-way game and he wins a fair amount of face-offs. By next year he’s expected to be one of the best players in junior hockey and then after he’s drafted, the sky’s the limit.
