Future Watch: Oliver Bjorkstrand Rookie Hockey Cards, Blue JacketsFuture Watch: Oliver Bjorkstrand Rookie Hockey Cards, Blue Jackets – Oliver Bjorkstrand was selected with the 89th overall pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2013 NHL Draft. At the time, many experts believed this was a great value. Considering he had two seasons with over 100 points during his tenure with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, the Jackets scouting staff was pleased with their selection.

Coming off strong international performances, the 2015-16 season was going to be one to watch for this Danish prospect. For the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL, he scored 17 goals. During that season, he did play 12 games for Columbus scoring 4 goals and 8 points. But the Jackets management wanted him to be a part of something special and he helped lead the Monsters to a Calder Cup championship with 10 goals and 16 points in the team’s 17 game post-season run.

Now 6′-0″, 175 pounds, this right winger has good speed, he’s very strong on the puck and he has terrific offensive skills. The more opportunity he gets down the road the more points he’ll score.

At the age of 22 he’s getting ready to have a breakout season. He’s on a very talented team. A team with playoff hopes and then some. Last season he had 13 points in 26 games. He got in five games during the NHL playoffs and the experience was invaluable.

Oliver Bjorkstrand has several NHL licensed rookie cards in 2016-17 Upper Deck hockey products. That includes a Young Guns rookie card in Upper Deck Hockey Series 1. Collectors can look for  Bjorkstrand rookie cards in multiple 2016-17 products including (to name a few):

This year he’ll be looking for a larger role on the team and should earn it. This prospect has a winning attitude and a great work ethic. If he works hard over the summer, the results will start showing up this September and hopefully, for the Blue Jackets and their fan-base, into May and June as well.
