Future Watch: Pedri Soccer Cards, FC Barcelona – One of the most promising young players in the world won’t turn 19 until next week. And, believe it or not, he’s already known mononymously as Pedri. Born Pedro González López, Pedri has drawn comparisons to his childhood Pedri Stadium Club Rookie Card Cutoutidol, football legend Andrés Iniesta. Being hyped as the ‘next Iniesta,‘ Pedri has captured the imagination of every soccer fan and soccer card collector.

It’s easy to see why fans and collectors alike are so mesmerized by the Spanish wonderkid. Despite his age and slight frame, Pedri is a dynamic, hard-working player who possesses outstanding technical skills. Not to mention, he demonstrates an advanced offensive game that will only get better.

Since he left Las Palmas for Barcelona in 2019, Pedri has impressed and immediately put his talents on display. A contributing factor to Pedri’s instant success with Barca was the position switch from winger to midfielder. During his first season at Camp Nou, Pedri showed his youthful enthusiasm by competing in 52 games across all competitions and netted four goals and six assists.

For his incredible efforts last season, Pedri went on to represent Spain at the UEFA European Championship and played for the La Roja squad that participated in the Tokyo Olympics this past summer.

Last month, Pedri signed a contract extension with Barca until June 30, 2026. But, the most incredible aspect of the contract extension was the record-breaking $1.16 billion release clause. Not only does the contract and release clause put Pedri in the appropriate spotlight as one of the game’s rising stars, but it also makes him untouchable and unapproachable if a competitor wanted to pursue him.

Unfortunately, Pedri has only made two appearances so far this season. He’s dealt with injury woes, including a muscular problem, but the good news is he’s close to returning. Pedri’s return to action will make his fans and those who collect his cards extremely happy.
