Future Watch: Pontus Aberg Rookie Hockey Cards, Predators – Pontus Aberg is a 5′-11″ right winger who plays for the Nashville Predators. In 2012, he was drafted 37th overall and for a few more years he played overseas in Sweden.

After playing for two seasons in the AHL for the Milwaukee Admirals he graduated to the NHL to play in two playoff games during the 2015-16 postseason. He didn’t score in those games but the experience elevated his game. The following season he scored 31 games in 56 games. During that run he did get called up to be a part of the terrific 2016-17 roster. He played in 15 NHL games getting just two points.

However, Aberg was added to the playoff roster. He’s been a contributor. In 12 games and he has 5 points. That’s pretty good considering the low scoring in this years’ Stanley Cup playoffs.

In Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, the talented Swede had a shining moment when he opened up the scoring in Game 2. At 12:57 of the first period he pulled off his best imitation of Wayne Gretzky. That goal gave his team a 1-0 lead and it temporarily quieted the raucous crowd in Pittsburgh, PA.

Here’s a look at this sick goal:

Pontus Aberg has several NHL licensed rookie cards. Look for his 2016-17 SP Authentic Future Watch Autograph card as well as well as his Young Guns rookie or his SP Game-Used rookie.

Earlier in the playoffs he scored a game-winning goal. He has that ability to score a clutch goal. Not every player possesses that. He’s taken advantage of Nashville’s injuries and making the most of his playing time. At 23, his versatility on either wing has gotten him some important playing time. He’s had top-line duties as of late and that’s impressive. If he continues this upward trend, then he may be able to become a reliable goal scorer in the NHL.
