Randal Grichuk 2015 Topps Base Card No. 483

Future Watch: Randal Grichuk Baseball Rookie Cards, St. Louis Cardinals – The St. Louis Cardinals aren’t participating in the 2015 World Series but they haven’t stopped fostering young talent at the fastest rate in Major League Baseball. This year one of their young standouts is power hitter, Randal Grichuk.

The versatile outfielder can play all three positions with good speed. Last season he had a taste of the game getting in 47 ball games. This year he was leaned upon a lot harder and he did manage to get 323 at-bats. With that in mind the 17 homers, 47 RBI, 23 doubles and 4 steals showed he’s in Missouri to stay. His 110 strikeouts can be improved upon.

This 24th overall pick was actually drafted by the Angels and traded to the Cardinals in 2013 as part of the David Freese deal. Now 23, he looks like he could be a mainstay for the next decade or more.

This Texas native actually participated in the 2003, and 2004 Little League World Series for Lamar National out of Richmond, Texas. In 2005 he actually made it into the pages of Sports Illustrated as a result. It’s nice to see a young player reaching his potential.

Many times the fun of collecting is digging into old product to find a budding star. Grichuk is that guy.His autographed, pre-rookie cards were included in several 2009 products including Bowman Chrome and Bowman Sterling. That’s your starting point.

Here is he helping to celebrate the Cardinals 10th NL Central Title:

Here he is showing off his power more than a few times:

Some compare him to Mike Trout, also drafted by the Angels. That’s a lofty goal but as you can see he’s already become a fan favorite at Busch Stadium.
