Future Watch: Raul Mondesi Baseball Rookie Cards, Kansas City Royals – Raul Mondesi was a terrific ballplayer back in the 90’s for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a prototypical five tool player. Imagine if he had a son who could play? Well he does, and the Kansas City Royals have him, he’s never played beyond AA-ball, he’s 20 but he could be the first player in history to make their major league debut in the World Series!

Raul A. Mondesi plays shortstop and current Royals manager, Ned Yost, likes his versatility because he can play second base as well. And why not. His dad was the 1994 Rookie of the Year. His son is the rookie of the moment. Having great speed he stole 19 bases in 25 attempts in AA, so as a backup, he seems destined to make history in the Big Apple. This sounds like a special themed baseball card in the making.

Right now everything is coming up aces for the Kansas City Royals in the 2015 postseason but that team never sits on their laurels. Why not insert the player who Baseball America ranked as the 28th best prospect if you have a need for him?

The 2013 Class A Player of the Year was signed by the Royals when he was just 16! And now he’s ready. It cost them 2 million dollars at the time but now it looks like money well spent.

Two good places to look for Raul A. Mondesi’s pre-rookie cards are 2013 Bowman Chrome and 2013 Bowman Sterling. The time to do this is now before the rest of America realizes what’s happening.

Mondesi also has several cards in 2015 products including:

Here’s Raul’s dad at work:

Here’s a look at the younger Mondesi. He has a different stance but the swing is just as sweet:

Major League Baseball has no shortage of great stories this year and if he does get in a World Series game, Mondesi’s might be the best of them all.
