Future Watch: Robert Hagg Rookie Hockey Cards, FlyersFuture Watch: Robert Hagg Rookie Hockey Cards, Flyers – Robert Hagg was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with the 41st overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. After playing over in Sweden, post-draft, he started to play for the Phantoms in the American Hockey League.

After playing 202 games in North American professional hockey, many thought this could be the year he made the big club. The Flyers gave him a cup of coffee, one game in 2016-17 to motivate him. It’s all worked out well so far for the 22-year-old.

This season, the 6′-2″, 204-pound defenseman made the Flyers team out of training camp. So far this season he hasn’t missed a game. For a rookie blueliner that’s pretty impressive. Originally thought to be an offensive defenseman he’s been placed into a variety of roles. Last year, in the AHL, he had seven goals because he got power play time. This year that won’t happen and as a result his point totals will be low for 2017-18.

Robert Hagg currently has an NHL licensed, Young Guns rookie card, in 2017-18 Upper Deck Hockey Series 1. You can also find his rookie card in 2017-18 O-Pee Chee as well. In addition, collectors can expect to see him in other 2017-18 Upper Deck Hockey releases. Previous to that, Hagg has had cards in products from In The Game with him pictured in Team Sweden gear.

Here’s a look at his first NHL goal:

As he becomes more comfortable with the league, his offense will start to come out. Next year could be that year or
it could be over the next few seasons as the Flyers transition more young prospects into their lineup.

Hagg is planned to be a key part of the Flyers youth movement. They have one of the youngest bluelines in the game. As these players grow together and learn each other’s tendencies they will improve. Some defenseman take until the age of 25 to reach their peak performance. Hagg is ahead of that curve.
