Future Watch: Robert Puason Rookie Baseball Cards, A’s –  Robert Puason was signed by the Oakland A’s as an international free agent in the summer of 2019, as a 16-year-old shortstop. He is known as the top shortstop prospect out of the Dominican Republic.

At 6-3, 185, you hear that five-tool player tag when analysts talk about this prospect. His defense is currently ahead of his offense and that’s something that’s normal and when his offense kicks in, watch out.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

Overall, Puason is a fast-twitch athlete that makes solid contact from both sides of the plate. He has shown a polished approach with fluid swings and the ability to sprays line drives to all fields. He has good barrel control and extension for his age. Like most prospects his age, he continues to work on his hitting mechanics, and it’s the development of the hit tool that could make him an everyday player in the big leagues one day. For now, he uses a semi-open stance and semi-uppercut swing from both sides of the plate and projects to have average power.

He’s already an above average runner.  On defense, he shows fluid actions and good footwork. He has an above-average throwing arm now with solid carry and it’s expected to get better as he develops. Add good hands along with great instincts, and it makes for an above-average package that could keep Puason at shortstop for the rest of his career. ETA TDB

As a top prospect, Robert Pauson already has literally hundreds of baseball cards on the market. His earliest cards can be found in 2017 Panini Elite Extra Edition. Collectors can find his first Bowman cards in 2020 Bowman with autographs.

Here’s a look at his swing:

The A’s have added Puason to their player pool that’s reporting to summer camp. Will he get to play? He might not, but this way he can practice with the major league team and try and develop this year since he’s not gotten into live play yet. There’s a lot more to come with this top prospect, collectors shouldn’t wait, all the signs are pointing the right way.
