Future Watch: Ryan Lindgren Rookie Hockey Cards, Rangers – Ryan Lindgren as drafted by the Boston Bruins with the 49th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. This talented blueliner grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended his hometown University.
Playing at the University of Minnesota, he had seven points in 32 games in 2017. The year before that he was with the NTDP playing with players like Clayton Keller, Adam Fox, and Casey Mittelstadt. Lindgren and a few of them met up in the U20 World Junior Championship and they all won gold for Team USA.
In 2018, Mittelstadt joined him at Minnesota. The defenseman played in 35 games, had nine points, and signed after that. He returned to the World Junior Championship and as an associate captain for Team USA took home another medal; this time it was a bronze. At the end of the college season, he was voted as an NCAA BIG All-Star team for the second straight season. The Rangers traded for him at the deadline and he played the rest of the season for the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. With the Wolfpack, he had two goals and two assists in 10 games.
Here’s a look at him with the National team:
Last season the prospect got in five games with the Rangers and 65 with Hartford. He played a role last year and he only got 12 points, but he played a physical game.
Starting in 2019, the 21-year-old may make the team out of camp. If not he’s very close. He does have offense in his game, but he would have to be given that role. Collectors should keep an eye him based on his age and ability.
