Future Watch: Sam Bennett Hockey Rookie Cards, Calgary – Many times there’s a player who has immense talent, gets drafted very high, and sometimes has to overcome injury before they can reach their potential. One such player is Calgary Flames future star, Sam Bennett. He was selected 4th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft. He then had shoulder surgery and that set him back a bit.

When Bennett worked his way back he got in one regular season game last year and then 11 playoff games as the Flames were the surprise team of last year’s playoffs. He had 3 goals and 4 points in that run and that set him up for this season.

Still Calder eligible, and still just 19, Bennett has started off the season well. He managed five goals and 14 points in his first 33 games on a struggling team. So far with less than 50 NHL games under his belt he’s been terrific and the best is yet to come.

Bennett is smart, he makes passes only a few with great vision can make and he has a pro shot. His hockey I.Q. allows him to sneak behind the defense to get into scoring position. All of these talents are what make this prospect very special.

Bennett is featured prominently in this year’s hockey card products. He has rookie cards in 2015-16 Upper Deck Hockey Series 1 and the newly revamped 2015-16 Upper Deck Black Diamond. Some collectors may have forgotten about him since he isn’t lighting up the sky just yet.

Bennett will be a top liner and an all-star. It might take him until he’s 21 to pull that off.
