Future Watch: Shea Theodore Rookie Hockey Cards, Ducks – Ar just 20-years old, Shea Theodore is already a very talented offensive defenseman who broke through with the Anaheim Ducks last season. In his 19 regular season games he had nine points. In a lesser playoff role he got six games of experience which is sure to carry over to this upcoming season.

Considering he was the 26th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, he’s already exceeding expectations. The Ducks are smart organization and they’re working the Langley, BC native in slowly. He had an amazing career with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL. Combined with some great international appearances with Team Canada, he’s ready to tackle the NHL head on for his first full season in 2016-17.

Theodore’s slashing skating style, great shot and skill on the power play makes him a cut above. The Ducks have a glut of good defenseman. That may change this off-season which would help his development and allow him to play in a top four role.

Shea Theodore has several NHL licensed rookie hockey cards. One of his most popular is his Young Guns card from 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. He also has rookie cards in this year’s Contours and Fleer Showcase sets, to name a few.

Here’s a look at Theodore chirping at his teammates when he was mic’d up in Seattle:

After the season ended for the Ducks, Theodore was sent back down to the AHL to aid the San Diego Gulls in their playoff run. He starred down there getting five points in seven games. When a player gets to play in two leagues, both during the postseason, then you’ve had a good year.

Stockpiling young defensemen is the current trend of general managers in the NHL. As a result, there will be a new wave of stars that grace this position. Only the flashy offensive players will be popular in the hobby and collectors can expect Theodore to be one of them for sure.
