Future Watch: Taylor Rapp Rookie Football Cards, Rams – Taylor Rapp was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 61st overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft. Rapp has an interesting story; his mother is Chinese and is from Shanghai and his father is from Canada. The family moved to the West Coast and the rest is history.
Rapp ran track and played football in Sehome High School in Bellingham, Washington playing safety and running back. When he decided on the University of Washington, he was a safety.
As a freshman, he saw action in all 14 games starting 10 of them. He had two multi-interception games and he ran one back to the house in the 2016 Pac-12 Football Championship Game. His team won and he was named the MVP of the game! USA Today voted him on the freshman All-American team.
More accolades came in 2017. He was named to SI’s Top 100, he sat at 39, as one of the best players in college football. He was voted to the Pac-12, All-First Team for his trouble. As an academic, his application to the Foster School of Business was accepted helping to line up a future for him outside of football.
More of the same accolades came for Rapp in 2018 and then he announced he was entering the NFL Draft.
Not highly scouted in high school he impressed in his college career and at the Combine with a 35’ vertical jump and 115 inches in the broad jump. A lot of teams were interested in him going into the draft. The Rams would select him in the second round with the 61st overall pick .
