Future Watch: Tee Higgins Football Cards, Bengals – Tee Higgins was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 33rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. At 6-4, 216 pounds, this uber-talented wide receiver is going to catch a lot of 50-50 balls thrown in his direction.
He attended Oak Ridge High School located in Tennessee. As a senior there he caught 68 passes for a total of 1,044 yards and 18 touchdowns. The talented pass-catcher was voted as an All-American by USA Today in 2016. He played basketball in high school as well and was recruited for that sport too. Even though he had committed to his hometown of the University of Tennessee, he changed his mind and decided to attend Clemson University instead.
In his three years, while playing for the Clemson Tigers, he caught 135 passes for 2,448 yards with 27 touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. He won a National Championship in 2018 and was First-Team All-ACC in 2019. After three seasons there, he decided to skip his senior year to enter the NFL Draft.
Higgins didn’t do any drills at the NFL Combine. He cited a long season and not enough preparation time. Did that decision drop him into the second round? It might have, if you’re healthy, scouts want to see you perform at the combine and that didn’t happen.
Here’s what his NFL Draft tape looked like:
Higgins could be the next great power receiver. He has the frame to shed tacklers and he can battle for those passes in the end zone. He has star potential and right now you can get in on the ground floor. Don’t wait for the NFL season to start. Cincinnati will be a fun team to watch this season.
