Future Watch: Victor Olofsson Rookie Hockey Cards, Sabres

Future Watch: Victor Olofsson Rookie Hockey Cards, SabresVictor Olofsson was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres with the 181st overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. He’s not six feet tall, he’s not 200 pounds, he’s not the fastest player on his team but he is a natural goal scorer.

Working his way up playing for Modo in Sweden, he graduated to the SHL as a young man, in 2016-17. That season he scored 14 goals and 29 points in 49 games. His team won the Champions League crown as well.

In his second SHL season, he had nine goals and 27 points in 51 games for Frolunda. His 12 points in 14 playoff games may have been the spark.

In 2017-18, he had a breakout season. He scored 27 goals with 43 points in 50 games. He had 14 power-play goals, that’s something that translates.

Last season he got in six games with the Sabres and scored four points. The Sabres made sure he had a full season in the AHL with Rochester and he shined. He had 30 goals and 63 points in 66 games.

Collectors will soon be able to get his Young Guns rookie card in 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. If you can’t wait for that, he had a rookie card in 2018-19 Upper Deck AHL Hockey and 2019-20 O-Pee-Chee Hockey.

Here’s a look at his sweet one-timer:

The scoring Swede started the season with the Sabres and burst on the scene in a big way during his rookie campaign. He has five power-play goals this season in seven games and combined with last season he set a rookie record scoring his first seven goals all with the man advantage. At 24, he’s peaking right now. Collectors should take notice and make sure they go all in. He’s the leader for the Calder at this moment.
