Future Watch: Vita Vea Rookie Football Cards, Buccaneers – Vita Vea was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 12th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. At 6-4, 347 pounds he has run stopper written all over him and that’s something that’s so important when you’re building a quality football team.
Vea redshirted in his freshman season, something that happens at big programs. In 2015, he played in all 13 games and had 17 tackles, 13 were solo, three were for a loss. He added a sack as well. He was off and running.
In 2016, he had 22 solo tackles, 39 in total and had 6.5 for a loss. He played in 14 games and had five sacks. He made four tackles and one sack in a bowl game against Alabama.
In 2017, he started in all 13 games. He had 30 solo tackles and 43 in total. He had 3.5 sacks and he drove the opposition to 5.5 for a loss. In 2017 he was voted to the second team All-America, All-Pac 12 first team, Morris Trophy winner and seven more notable accolades including Academic Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year!
