Future Watch: Vitaly Abramov Rookie Hockey Cards, Senators –  Vitaly Abramov was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets with the 65th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. As it turns out he never got to play for the Jackets. That happens sometimes.

In 2015-16, he starred in Gatineau in the QMJHL. In 63 games he had 38 goals and 93 points. His seven goals and 13 points in the playoffs were outstanding. He played in the CHL Top Prospects Game, was on the QMJHL All-Rookie Team, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Rookie of the Year overall. This was one giant step in his hockey career.

In 2016-17, the talented Russian potted 46 goals and had 104 points in 66 games. He had seven points in seven playoff games as well. That season he won the Jean Beliveau Trophy for leading the league in points. He got a taste of the AHL and played four games with the Cleveland Monsters and had four points.

The talented winger had similar point totals in 2017-18. He was selected to play in the 2018 U20 World Junior Championship. He had a goal in five games.

In 2018-19, he turned pro and played full-time for Cleveland. In 52 games he had 12 goals and 22 points. That February the prospect was traded to the Ottawa Senators. He played one game for them and 18 for Belleville, their AHL affiliate where he scored seven points in 18 games.

In 2019-20, the 5-9 forward scored 18 goals and 41 points in 51 games. Then the season paused.

Collectors can find Vitaly Abramov’s 2019-20 Young Guns Rookie Card in Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey.  He also has NHL licensed rookie cards in other 2019-20 Upper Deck products including Trilogy, Synergy, and O-Pee-Chee Platinum, to name a few.

Here’s a look at his first NHL goal:

This player has the skills and the hands and now at 22, he’s poised to break into the NHL next season, and he may surprise a few collectors as well.
