Future Watch: Yusniel Diaz Rookie Baseball Cards, DodgersFuture Watch: Yusniel Diaz Rookie Baseball Cards, Dodgers – Yusniel Diaz was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an international free agent out of Cuba in 2015. The Dodgers have the most Rookie of the Year winners in the history of sports. They have 17 and counting. This year could be 18 if Cody Bellinger were to win.

Scouting is an art form and the Dodgers are among the best. They took notice of Diaz who’s 6′-1″, 195 pound frame is perfect for the outfield. He’s versatile having played every position and he’s just 21 so they won’t rush him to the big leagues.

Since 2016, the Havana native has made the jump from rookie league baseball to the AA Tulsa Drillers. In 108 at-bats for them this season he hit .333, with three homers and 13 RBI. He rounded out those impressive stats with eight doubles and two steals. His .491 slugging percentage and .390 on-base percentage signal that he’s likely going to start next season in AAA.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

Diaz has the potential for four solid or better tools. He has uncanny hand-eye coordination and a quick right-handed swing that allow him to barrel balls with ease even though his legs aren’t always in sync with the rest of his body. He employs a line-drive, gap-to-gap approach that doesn’t yield much power, but he has a projectable frame and could deliver 15 homers per season if he tries to drive the ball more often. Diaz should make an impact on the bases and in the outfield as well. He’s a plus runner with good instincts and a solid arm. ETA 2019.

Yusniel Diaz has a Chrome Prospects Autographed card in 2017 Bowman Chrome Baseball.
