Future Watch: Zach Whitecloud Rookie Hockey Cards, Golden KnightsFuture Watch: Zach Whitecloud Rookie Hockey Cards, Golden KnightsZach Whitecloud was signed by the Vegas Golden Knights as a free agent in 2018. He took an interesting route to professional hockey. From the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, who had an alumnus win the Stanley Cup with the Blues in defenseman Joel Edmundson. After that, he enrolled in Bemidji State.

2016-17 was his first year in college hockey. The 6-2 defenseman had 17 points in 41 games. That was a solid freshman season.

In his sophomore campaign, he had four goals and 19 points in 36 games. At that point he showed toughness, using all of his 209 pounds, and an offensive game, he had two game-winning goals, and he made the All-American Scholars list. He was on the WCHA All-Rookie team and won a WCHA championship. In the playoffs, he had a three-assist game. He was ready to move on.

Last season he played in the AHL for the Chicago Wolves. The Wolves are very picky about who gets playing time and he got a lot. He had six goals and 28 points in 74 games. In the postseason, he had 15 points in 22 games. For a rookie to make offensive gains like that is impressive. He had the most assists in the Calder Cup playoffs. The best plus/minus.

Collectors can collect his Young Guns rookie card in the 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. He has additional rookies in SP Game-Used, SP Authentic, and Engrained.

He has his heritage and his play on the ice to be proud of. Check it out here:

This 22-year-old blueliner has a legit shot to make the Knights roster at some point this season. There may be an opening or two on the blue line this year and Whitecloud can battle for that with a strong camp and eventual NHL preseason. Don’t miss out on him.
