Future Watch: Zack MacEwen Rookie Hockey Cards, Canucks – Zack MacEwen was signed as a free agent by the Vancouver Canucks in 2017. A lot of players don’t get drafted, the lucky ones get signed to give a player a shot to show his stuff.
The 6-3, 205-pound right winger started making a name for himself with the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL. In 66 games he had 40 points and he added eight in 17 playoff games.
In his second season, 2016-17, he had 31 goals and 74 points in 66 games. He had nine points in seven playoff games as well.
He turned pro in 2017-18. He played in the AHL with the Utica Comets where he had 10 goals and 33 points in 66 games. He had one goal in five playoff games too.
In 2018-19 he scored 22 goals and added 30 helpers in 69 games. The Canucks like his toughness and compete.
Last season he got a four-game cup of coffee with the Canucks. He registered an assist and a fight. This year he’s going to start the season off in the AHL and then he could be one of the first players called up if there’s an injury or the team is looking for a spark.
Collectors can get his rookie card in 2019-20 Upper Deck MVP Hockey and virtually every other set in the calendar year.
Here’s a look at what he can do as a scorer:
