In the Clinch: Amir Albazi Looks to Finish Kai Kara-France, UFC Vegas 74 – Many eyes will be on flyweight fighter Amir Albazi at UFC Vegas 74 this Saturday, June 3rd at the UFC Apex.

The No. 7 Albazi (16-1-0), 29, will take on No. 3 Kai Kara-France (24-10-0, 1NC), 30, in the main event, and it was hard not to notice his fierce confidence at Media Day going into the bout.

Albazi declared that “he is a finisher,” and will be looking to add another to his resume on Saturday. He is also a grappler and that means he can finish you almost anywhere. Since debuting in July 2020, “The Prince” is undefeated in four octagon contests thus far.

While Kara-France is the best opponent he’s faced, it’s not for lack of trying. He previously had fights booked with Alex Perez and Brandon Royval that were canceled because of injuries.

A win by Albazi could launch him into the title shot conversation. Of course, Kara-France has other plans.

“Don’t Blink” (Kara-France) recovered from a back injury after an interim title shot loss to current undisputed champion Brandon Moreno at UFC 277 in July. Because of that loss, I’m not sure a win will launch him into a title shot like it would Albazi. At best, Kara-France will stay in the title conversation and defend his ranking.

Kara-France understands what he is up against. Can he neutralize the grappling of Albazi? He’s fought the best of the division, so he should be confident in a good game plan and his team. But, he needs to be extremely prepared with his takedown defence and clinching.
